Hi Fight Family,
I wanted to update you on some great things happening at Modernize My Fight, or Mod My Fight as we are officially transitioning to. This Thursday at 6:15 PM, Paula of the Sisterhood, will be leading an important Gun Safety Workshop for Adults and Semi-Adults. This isn’t about shooting skills but focuses on the essential practice of handling firearms safely. I strongly encourage all Semi-Adults to join, with their parents permission, for this important session that will teach crucial safety and responsibility.
First I want to welcome Sasan Akhavan to Mod My Fight. For those who have not met Sasan he has a background in multiple disciplines of Martial Arts. Sasan has trained most of his life but stopped when the Covid virus started and has now just restarted his journey. Please introduce yourself when he is your partner.
Over the last month, we have celebrated some well-earned promotions. I’m especially excited to share that Nathan has become my first student to earn a stripe to his Green belt, marking his dedication and persistence in martial arts. Although he has not yet logged enough training hours to reach red/brown belt status, this milestone highlights his hard work, and we are proud to recognize his progress. Also, Casey and Preston have both earned their orange belts after putting in a lot of effort. Casey’s determination and focus in mastering techniques inspire us all. Preston, one of our newest members, has impressed us with his excellent footwork and quick grasp of techniques.
The kids are getting recognition too! In the children’s class, I am happy to announce that Kai, Ray, and Mattan have all earned their Youth Orange Belts. Their dedication has really paid off, and I am glad the days of hearing “When do we get our Orange Belts?” Is behind us. Plus, little San has been promoted to a Special Yellow Belt. Even though he is still a toddler and not officially a member yet, his joyful spirit and big smile on the mat have earned him this special honor.
If you haven not checked it out yet, I am excited to announce our brand-new website is live! It is much faster and lets you easily book classes, events, or private lessons right from the site. Newcomers can also sign up for a free trial class, making it simple to join our family.
Soon, you will find a new MMF Blog tab on the website, which will be launching shortly. One highlight will be daily meditations from “The Daily Martial Artist” by Aidan Michael Gorman. This book offers a page of reflection and life lessons each day. Nicole and I have been reading it aloud at dinner with Yoni and Anshel, sparking meaningful conversations and lessons for our family. Starting January 1st, I will be sharing blog posts about these daily readings, and I hope you will consider grabbing a copy to join the conversation.

On another note, we have rolled out new billing and management software to make things run smoother. Thanks so much for your patience as I get the hang of it. One great feature is that it tracks how many classes you attend, helping our coaches know when you are ready for belt promotions. Plus, there is a reward system for anyone who attends more than 12 classes in a month. There is a little surprise waiting for those who hit that mark, and we will share more details soon.
And here is a fun rumor to get you excited: We are working on moving to a much bigger space right next to where we are now. We will be growing from 700 square feet to a huge 2,000 square feet, complete with an octagon ring! While it is not set in stone yet, we are working hard to secure the funding to make Conejo Valley’s top fight training center a reality.
Lastly, look for the next newsletter when we announce new classes and schedule for 2026.
